Paper Publication Success from Our Undergraduate Student (05.08.2024)

We are excited to announce that the article, "Performance comparison index for image super-resolution models" has been published in Springer's Journal of Signal, Image and Video Processing.

This work presents a novel index that enhances the accuracy of super-resolution model comparison by focusing on patterns in generated images, rather than just statistical or pixel-wise information. We believe this approach will pave the way for significant advancements in the field of image enhancement & image quality assessment.

We invite everyone interested in image processing to explore the proposed index and consider using it as an alternative to conventional metrics like MSE, SSIM, or PSNR. Our student Gökhan Koçmarlı and his advisor Prof. Dr. Gökhan Bora Esmer have made the software implementation open-source and free to use.

The 6th Aviation, Space and Technology Festival "TEKNOFEST 2023", organized by the Turkish Technology Team Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, was held at Istanbul  Atatürk Airport between April 27 and May 1. Within the scope of the festival, in which many organizations that play a critical role in the development of national technology in Turkey took part as stakeholders, our university competed in 15 categories with 19 project teams. The MarCO Team, which participated in Teknofest2023 in the category of "Digital Technologies in the Industry" with the Autonomous Vehicle Project, won the first prize for our university and was awarded a monetary award of 60 thousand TL. Fatih Küçük and Mustafa Erdem Tusun, students from the electrical and  electronics engineering department of the faculty of engineering, took part in the project team. MarCO is a TEKNOFEST team established to reduce the burden of the developing industry on the  employees, to increase productivity and to carry out studies in Industry 4.0 standards in order to maintain productivity in a sustainable way. The biggest motivation in the establishment of the team is to prepare young engineers for the industry while they are still in the learning process so that Turkey can keep up with the production trend that has become autonomous with Industry 4.0.
