Program Overview & Language of Instruction

100% English • With Thesis

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) with Thesis program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering is structured to provide advanced research, mathematical modeling, and engineering competence to graduates holding a 4-year B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or closely related technical disciplines.

Medium of Instruction: All courses, technical seminars, and dissertation defenses are conducted strictly in 100% English. Prospective candidates are expected to demonstrate high English language proficiency, and oral scientific entrance examinations are held in English.

Admissions & Scientific Deficiency Framework

Quotas and Institute Guidelines Admission prerequisites and student quotas are centrally established by the Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences (FBE) Executive Board pursuant to the provisions of the Marmara University Graduate Education and Examination Regulation and announced before each semester.
Scientific Preparation Year Candidates admitted from adjacent engineering fields (Computer, Mechatronics, Control, etc.) may be placed into a Scientific Deficiency/Preparation Program comprising prerequisite undergraduate courses determined by the Department Board, which must be completed within maximum 1 academic year.

Course Load & Graduation Criteria

  • Credit Requirements: Completion of the M.Sc. degree requires successfully passing at least 7 elective lecture courses totaling no less than 21 local credits (120 ECTS).
  • Mandatory Non-Credit Courses: Alongside the 7 graduate courses, candidates must enroll in and successfully complete the M.Sc. Seminar and Thesis Research courses, which are graded on a Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory basis.
  • Interdisciplinary Coursework: Up to 3 of the 7 elective courses may be selected from graduate-level technical courses offered by other departments within the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Advisor Oversight: Course selection and research planning are conducted throughout the study under the active mentorship and approval of the appointed faculty thesis advisor.
