Internship

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department Internship Objectives and Principles:

It is important for all students who will undertake an internship to read the objectives and principles. You can access the relevant document from the link below.

Objectives and Principles

* Internship documents cannot be submitted in person. To obtain information about the submission conditions and the internship, students should contact Internship Committee Member Research Assistant Salih Çolakoğlu via email (salih.colakoglu at marmara.edu.tr).

Compulsory Internship Procedures:

1. Internships cannot be conducted during the academic semester (short-term compulsory internships).

2. No classes are allowed on internship days (for summer school). At least three working days per week must be free. If the employer provides a written and approved document, Saturdays can be considered as working days.

3. You must contact your internship advisor, Research Assistant Salih ÇOLAKOĞLU. For any inquiries regarding the internship, please send an email to salih.colakoglu@marmara.edu.tr. Emails will be responded to within a few days, depending on workload.

4. Internship applications are conducted online. Information about the online internship process can be obtained by watching the tutorial at the following link: https://www.kisa.link/gnfjy.

5. Your internship application must be completed through the online internship application system at least 10 business days (2 weeks) before the internship start date.

6. The following documents may be recommended by the Internship Committee if the online application system is not functioning, or you may request them via email for your company. They are not used for internship applications.

7. Although not mandatory, if the company specifically requests it, the petition available at the provided link can be signed by Şakir Bingöl, the head of the internship committee, as a workplace application petition. You can contact him via sakir.bingol@marmara.edu.tr.

8. The company where the internship will be conducted must approve the internship request via the approval email sent through the internship system in BYS (Student Information System). The internship will be forwarded to the Internship Committee’s approval screen once it is approved by the company. If you encounter any issues during this process, please email the Internship Committee.

9. Students must plan their internship at least 10-15 days before the start date, ensuring that all processes, both on their side and the company’s, are completed.

The documents listed below will only be used if requested by the department. If not requested, they will not be used.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How many total working days of internship are required?
A: A total of 60 working days of internship is mandatory for graduation, consisting of 30 working days for EE3000 and 30 working days for EE4000.

Q: My friend and I worked on the same project at our internship company/school. Can we submit a joint internship report?
A: No, joint internship reports will not be accepted. Reports must be written individually.

Q: I was unable to attend my internship on certain days. What will happen?
A: The internship attendance process is entirely between the student and the employer. The committee has no authority to make adjustments in such cases.

Q: Can I do my internship at the same place where I interned before?
A: No, unless it is an R&D company. The responsibility for all internship procedures lies with the student. Information about R&D status should be obtained from the company.

Q: How and when can I confirm that my internship has been recorded in the system?
A: Your internship will be entered into the system within two weeks after all required documents are submitted. If a summer internship meets the minimum requirement of 30 working days, it will appear as EE3000 on your transcript. Internships that do not meet this condition will still be recorded in the system but will not be visible on the transcript.

Q: I did three different internships in one summer, totaling 55 working days. Do I need to do just 5 more working days in the next internship?
A: No. A maximum of 40 working days can be counted in a single summer, and a minimum of 20 working days is required for an internship to be considered valid. If you have a 12-day deficit, you must complete at least 20 working days in your next internship.

Q: I started my internship, but I received an offer from another company I prefer. Can I switch internships?
A: No.

Q: The company refuses to sign or approve documents mentioning a "required payment to the intern." What should I do?
A: This situation is known to the dean’s office, and such documents may be submitted incomplete.

Q: I emailed you to check if my internship documents were received, but I did not get a response.
A: Enable the read receipt feature in your email settings. Also, ask your employer about the status of the documents.
