Hosted by ROKETSAN, one of the leading global enterprises of the defense industry, the exhibition provided our students with the valuable opportunity to translate academic theory into real-world defense engineering solutions, present them directly to key defense contractors, and receive expert industry feedback.

Panel Contribution: "Industry-Oriented Capstone Projects: Adding Value to the Defense Sector with Young Talents"

During the event, our Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Engin Maşazade, participated as an invited panelist. Prof. Dr. Maşazade highlighted the vital role of university-industry partnerships in engineering pedagogy, the applied problem-solving proficiencies students cultivate through industry-sponsored capstones, and their substantial technical contributions to national defense innovation.

As the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, we take great pride in our students contributing directly to high-technology industries through state-of-the-art projects spanning communication systems, Software Defined Radio (SDR), array signal processing, antenna engineering, and tactical positioning technologies. Having our undergraduate capstones selected for demonstration by premier technology powerhouses like ROKETSAN reflects the high caliber of our hands-on engineering education and our robust university-industry ties.

“In our department, students do not merely attend lectures; they take active roles in project-based R&D with Turkey's leading defense and high-tech enterprises, tackle real-world engineering challenges, co-develop solutions alongside faculty and industry experts, and acquire invaluable sector experience prior to graduation.”

University-Industry Joint Research in Collaboration with Türk Telekom Presented at IEEE SIU 2026

IEEE SIU 2026 • Türk Telekom

A joint research project conducted collaboratively by faculty members and undergraduate students from our Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering together with Türk Telekom was successfully presented as an oral presentation at the 32nd IEEE Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU 2026).

Collaborative Research Team:
Marmara University: Emre Berkin Çetin, Osman Eren Köse, Prof. Dr. Engin Maşazade
Türk Telekom: Reyhan Dede, Nurefşan Ak Kanıgür

Focusing on advanced cellular communication architectures and tactical positioning algorithms, this study represents a distinguished benchmark in university-industry partnerships, reinforcing our department's emphasis on engineering investigations aimed at resolving real-world industrial challenges.

In our department, undergraduate students benefit from unique opportunities to actively engage in applied R&D within wireless telecommunications, signal processing, and AI alongside leading telecommunication operators and scholars. This hands-on ecosystem bridges theoretical depth with cutting-edge industry practices.

We congratulate our students, faculty members, and research collaborators at Türk Telekom, wishing them continued success in their collaborative endeavors.
