International Research Fellowship Awarded to Res. Asst. Oğuzhan Çiftçi under the CoHE Young Minds Program

BAPKO 2025 • FBA-2025-11845The Standard Research Project application titled “AI-Powered Respiratory Device Monitoring Lung Functions”, led by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fulya Çallıalp (Project No: FBA-2025-11845), has been unanimously approved for funding with a research budget of 300,000.00 TRY by the Marmara University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit (BAPKO).
Project Title: AI-Powered Respiratory Device Monitoring Lung Functions

Focusing on real-time respiratory sound analysis via on-device edge AI algorithms, this research contributes substantially to the department's ongoing biomedical instrumentation and portable healthcare monitoring investigations.

International Academic Mobility at Chulalongkorn University by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fulya Çallıalp
Erasmus+ KA171Within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA171 Staff Teaching Mobility program (Project Grant No. 2023-1-TR01-KA171-HED-000164359, awarded in 2025), our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fulya Çallıalp successfully conducted academic teaching activities, seminars, and bilateral institutional collaboration initiatives at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, between July 20–31, 2026.
Throughout the academic visit, joint research opportunities focusing on electromagnetic wave applications and sensor systems were discussed, specialized lectures were delivered to undergraduate and graduate cohorts, and institutional academic cooperation ties between the institutions were solidified.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity, with more than 400,000 members worldwide. The Senior Member grade is the highest professional grade of IEEE, achieved by less than 10% of its global membership, requiring extensive professional experience and demonstrated technical excellence and leadership.

Prof. Dr. Fulya Çallıalp achieved the distinction of becoming a finalist among 4,000 nationwide applicants in the Technology-Based Woman Entrepreneur category at the Halkbank Producing Women Competition 2025.
She attended the ceremony as a distinguished finalist on February 17, 2025, held under the auspices of First Lady Emine Erdoğan.

Academic Visit from Chulalongkorn University within the Scope of Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility
Erasmus+ • Chulalongkorn UniversityThe Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Project proposal submitted by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fulya Çallıalp on behalf of our department has been officially awarded. Within the bilateral inter-institutional agreement established between Marmara University and Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panuwat Janpugdee will visit our department during the 2025–2026 academic year.
During his stay, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janpugdee will share his state-of-the-art research with our department scholars and deliver a total of 8 hours of specialized lectures and technical seminars for our undergraduate and graduate cohorts.
This international engagement aims to consolidate bilateral research ties, enhance academic cooperation, and foster knowledge exchange and global networking opportunities for our students and faculty members.
Project Note: Marmara University and Chulalongkorn University are partnering institutions under the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility project grant agreement No. 2023-1-TR01-KA171-HED-000164359. Prof. Dr. Fulya Çallıalp, has been awarded seed funding following the Stage-2 panel evaluations of the TÜBİTAK 1512 Individual Young Enterprise (BİGG) Program 2022 call.
The TÜBİTAK BİGG Scheme supports innovative, technology-driven business concepts from ideation through commercialization, facilitating early-stage venture establishment and advancing globally competitive technological products.

Representing a significant breakthrough at the intersection of cellular biophysics and digital holographic imaging, this research enables high-precision acoustic-holographic reconstruction of whole-cell elasticity and biomechanical stiffness distributions.
